Food Suggestions and Information

We encourage healthy food options, which help children stay focused and alert, so they get the most enjoyment out of the camp experience.

We discourage soft drinks, candy, low fibre high sugar foods, products made with bleached white flour and foods that contaon food coloring and artificial flavoring. The latter food types have been proven to increase hyperactivity and contribute to attention deficit problems in children.

Some healthy food options are:

  • sandwiches on whole wheat bread
  • fruit, whole as well as cut up(melons)
  • cheese(cut up pieces of cheddar) and crackers
  • nuts and seeds, dried fruit
  • gorp(mix of dried fruit, nuts, seeds, choc. chips)
  • cookies with oatmeal, nuts, raisins
  • leftovers to heat up or eat cold
  • granola bars, energy bars
  • yogurt
  • dried beans
Allergies?

We will cater to nut allergies if notified and ask participants to cooperate if asked to bring nut-free lunches and snacks. Unless you are notified of an allergy in the group, your lunches and snacks to not have to be nut-free.
